Overview
The CodeNet-8340B and 8342B are Passive Fiber Optic Ethernet Adapters for the Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) bus. These adapters operate in either 8-bit or 16-bit ISA slots or in any EISA slot. The board design allows the adapter to map its on-board RAM directly into the host system’s main memory (shared memory mode), or to use a Base I/O address for network adapter data transfer (NE2000+mode).
The CodeNet-8340B/8342B ISA adapter provides a high performance, fiber optic link to an Ethernet network segment. The CodeNet PC/AT adapters are used in a high performance, high security, easy to maintain and install 10 Mbps Ethernet passive fiber optic segment. Workstation can be up to 1600 meters apart using low-cost CodeStar passive hub.
CodeNet fiber optic Ethernet networks can be added to, and combined with existing copper cable based networks, thus allowing Ethernet networks to be expanded and converted to fiber optics anytime.
